| Spring |
|
Mother nature has graced her beauty on the land here again, spring is upon us. Gray clouds and dark shadows are replaced with light and the awakening of the forest. Whispering winds carry the scents of jack pine and the promises of apples and cherries falling from the skies fill my babies dreams. I am awed today by the power of life and its ability to reach out when everything seems lost. Last Christmas someone brutally cut off one of the small firs out front that stand guard at my fence line. I mourned for the cruelty of it and hoped she would recover. Today what is left of her reaches to the sky and with all of her will she refuses to die. A cotton wood lost the ability to stand tall in heavy winds last fall and I found her bent over . Fearing danger to the horse's I set a ladder up along her and with regrets began to saw. Today branches stretch out from her and she is in full bloom and her branches have the look of a delicate seedlings. She will prevail what mother nature started and what my hand had in it as well. She is alive in all of her glory. God has sent out his messages in the beauty that surrounds us and I hope that I will have the unrelenting courage that of nature and what she has revealed to me today. |
