Change of Heart
If you have come to this page you may be considering letting go of your animal. I know sometimes life can be very difficult and sometimes decisions are made when things around us seem to be out of our control. Having said that I must also say please reconsider your personal commitment, your unspoken promise to the one who trusts you and loves you very much. They all just want to be loved and need to be with us.
Even my horses will come out of nowhere to investigate the sound of someone on their property. Inquisitive noses sniff hammer handles so closely I can hardly complete the task I had set out to do. All animals are capable of feelings of happiness which we see in a dog or a pig with the wag of a tail, or perhaps a whinny from a horse welcoming you home... the thump of a dog's tail on the floor when they hear us laughing, and of course the look of squinting eyes from our
beloved pussycat.
All animals have feelings of uncertainty or loss which we see when we are packing for a trip and our cat or dog will follow us to every room in the house. They most certainly know that something is different today from yesterday and they do not want to be left behind.
All animals are accustomed to our daily rituals or habits; in the way we do things and the way our lives carry on through the day. They know when it's dinner time, they know when its time to go for a walk. They know how to let us know when they want that treat or need a drink of milk. All animals can be happy and so the opposite must be true... that all animals can surely feel loss and pain.
Please love your charges and know that they know when you are leaving them, they know and will not understand why you have left or why you do not want them anymore.
Pigs are of extreme intelligence rated third in the animal kingdom, know this - that with this intelligence comes *the knowing* that you do not want them anymore. That you do not love them, and the loss is much deeper than what a dog or cat would suffer because of this level of intelligence.
The pain of separation is the same for all species whether it is you or me, mouse or pig. Please love your animals and let them live their lives out as God intended in a loving, peaceful, healthy environment... with you... the ones they trust & love!
