tDon Juan (aka "Donnie")
"Festus" was found living on a construction site. Those in charge of the site didn't want him and were considering shooting him.
Some young men working on the site loaded him into a work van and took him home, but poor Festus wasn't safe yet because the mother of the house didn't want him either. She contacted HONs and emailed some photos. Not long after, he was set to join the sanctuary. They told us he was neutered, but it was hard to tell much from the photos.
Festus arrived in the back of a truck, stuffed in a dog crate that was too small and didn't have a door. The family had bungeed a piece of plywood to the crate to keep him somewhat contained, and he rode in the back, with his butt hanging out, amidst a pile of junk and the family's two dogs.
It was dark when they arrived at the sanctuary, but it wasn't necessary to see. Ten minutes after Festus was dropped off, there was the distinctive scent of boar. Festus wasn't neutered! For weeks, he drove our girl pigs crazy with his scent, which is how he earned his new name, Don Juan.
Donnie is now neutered and when he's out and about he hangs around the Big House, standing at the bottom of the stairs waiting for something special to munch on. His favorite is a Subway veggie sandwich!
